We are firmly established in the Australian market, while we have succeeded in growing our business in China, where we were one step ahead of the competition in identifying the potential of the Chinese market, a market that continues to grow. We are currently in the process of establishing a total of 9 joint venture companies through alliances with some of China’s leading corporations. Tokyo Boeki (Beijing) Ltd was established in 2005 as the first foreign-capitalized local corporation to be licensed to carry out commercial transactions within China. Tomas Trading (Shanghai) Co Ltd’s scope of business was expanded in 2009, and its corporate structure strengthened, under the banner Tokyo Boeki (China) Ltd. This, together with our outstanding creativity, coupled with a persistence and tenacity that delivers results - qualities in which Tokyo Boeki Steel & Materials excels - has enabled us to achieve success in many challenging projects. Our resource investment in China involves a large-scale composite project - representing an aggregate investment of 10 billion yuan - that includes coal mining, washed coal, coke, synthetic ammonia, power generation, and cement. In addition to acquiring an interest in this project, Tokyo Boeki Steel & Material Group has also acquired the rights to export coal and coke, and also to sell these products in China.
The unique business model adopted by our Steel Business contributes to industries such as the automobile industry and the resource and energy industries, while our Raw Materials Business supplies a wide range of raw materials including coal, coke, and manganese alloys. Our Materials Business deals in Chinese refractory bricks, which Tokyo Boeki Steel & Materials has pioneered and now has the largest market share, while our Building Materials Business deals in an extensive range of products for all types of buildings, ranging from public facilities through to private housing. Each of these businesses has been developed with the aim of delivering added value to our clients.
